I was a co-founder of The Maintainers with Andy Russell, in 2016. As a co-director from 2019 – 2021, I worked with Andy, Jessica, and Lauren on research projects, outreach, and a variety of organizational work that goes into maintaining The Maintainers. These days, I contribute content to The Maintainers blog, and talk about maintaining people and things on my podcast. I am trained as a historian of technology but have since moved more broadly into the interdisciplinary social scientific study of human life with technology. One of my favorite things about The Maintainers is hearing from other people about what the concepts of “maintenance,” “repair,” “care,” and “infrastructure” are doing for people in their lives, as well as hearing people’s maintenance stories and stories about Maintainers they have loved.
